How can you control your life if you can’t control your hair?

FLAT IRONING 101

My clientele consists primarily of women with hair similar to mine, LONG, thick and curly. While you fine haired girls would kill for such a head, we PAY to be able to manage it. Regardless of coarse or fine hair, the world is using flat irons. The word “sleek” is used loosely at our salon. That’s what we see on televisions, magazines, work and schools; straight hair. But I’ve decided we all need a lesson on the importance of maintaining the integrity of your hair. Especially if you’re flat ironing your hair daily. So here’s a fast and simple way to get the skinny look you’re going for while still keeping your tresses looking healthy and shiny.

First and foremost you will need a ceramic iron. They produce far infrared ionic heat that won’t damage and destroy your hair (with the proper care on your behalf!) The number one leading ceramic iron in the professional industry is the CHI (ceramic heat iron). I’ve tried many and I along with Farouk systems guarantee it 100%

This iron sets itself apart from your average $20 flat iron you can purchase at your local drugstore because the heat is distributed evenly by the ceramic plates. One quick and steady stroke will smooth any type of hair. It runs on average about $100. When purchased the CHI comes with a one year warranty and if taken care of properly will last many, many years.

Now that you have the perfect iron to flatten your hair, you will need the product to protect your hair against the heat it brings. Yes, CHI’s  heat is less damaging to your hair because of the ceramic plates, but it is still important to use a thermal protectant. As  I stated before Farouk is the creator of the CHI so in addition they designed a product to work with the iron. It is called BioSilk Silk Therapy.

It is a light weight leave-in replenishing treatment that eliminates frizz, gives shine and infuses your hair with actual silk molecules that are bonded into your hair to mend from the inside out once heat is applied to it. With out it you can burn and cause split ends to your hair.

Then next product I recommend is the TiGi CatWalk Fashionista Smooth and Shine

fashionista-smooth-and-shine-400

It is a heat protective, smoothing lotion that contains UV absorbents to prevent color fadage as well as static and frizz. This lotion leaves your hair smooth, shiny and and in fabulous condition. I call it “Gold in a bottle” It has a nice fruity smell and I sell it in the salon like hot cakes!

Both of these products you apply on wet hair.  Comb through to distribute evenly. Blow dry your hair, then section and flat iron.

Now you can have the sleek, shiny, healthy locks you see on T.V. like Vanessa Hudgens. Remember girls, we splurge on shoes and outfits that we may only wear once. The iron and the product will be used regularly so investing in a product that won’t just sit on your shelf is well worth it. I don’t want to see any more damaged, fried ends due to flat ironing. And that’s the lesson for the day. Pass it on!

KIM KARDASHIAN A BLONDE?

That’s right…after trying a wig months ago in blonde, as  well as shorter bobbed wig for a photo shoot, the newly single Kardashian went for it all the way. I’m glad it’s a warm golden blonde with balayage tresses of highlights mingled in nicely. It suits her skin tone and haircut perfectly for a smooth change. I’m feeling it. Are you?

FALL CUTS FOR MEN

Well word on the street is three big things are in:

Fringe  (translation for boys:Bangs)

zac-efron

Zac Efron brought this look hard! And has managed to switch up lengths and looks while still “banging it”. Shorter on the sides with a longer twist in the front for a more stylish look seems to be the business guys.

Slick Back Look

georgeclooney

Nothing says clean and sexy like this cut. Close trim with a dab of gel will show the girls you always want to look your best. George Clooney is trying to teach ya something. Pay attention fellas.

The Modern Side Part

Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz is bringing it back with a different flare. This is a classic cut that can suit the younger generation as well as the old. Here we see a more millennium version if you will with a slight fringe incorporated. Kudos to you Pete!

Those are the three looks ruling currently. With a little modern tweaking to the cut they can be pulled off just right. I’m always going to like the clean cut, military crop type with maybe some facial hair but hey, the trends talk and I cut em!

Justin I likey!

And of course I’m still into the fauxhawk and David Beckham, you got the game on lock with that! (aside from my client Ryan of course 🙂 ) This cut is fun for a night on the town, yet subtle enough to just wear down in the office.

Now THAT is what a fauxhawk is supposed to look like guys. Keep your game right. Mohawks are soooo out!

There you go guys. Any questions go to the Ask SaVi section and drop a comment. Looking forward to seeing new do’s on you!

THE BLUSH OF SHAME

ca1

Christina you can sang but put the blush pot down!

I’m seeing it way too often so I feel I need to address this subject. We are seeing a lot more color right now because of the summer. Rose, coppers, plums or whatever the shade, there is a very important but simple art to applying blush properly.

1. After you’ve applied foundation, concealer, and powder take a sable blush  brush and stroke in your choice of blush.

2. Tap off any excess powder then place brush in center (apple) of the cheek.

3. Swipe brush gently back and forth to the hairline until smoothed out evenly.

4. Finally stroke brush in an upward and downward motion. (THIS PART IS IMPORTANT)

You should now have a smooth and natural application. Remember that less is more so apply in layers if you do feel the need to apply more. It’s better than starting off with too much and having to start over! I hope this helps and that the Blush of Shame epedemic disappears asap!

STOP IT NOW! You can contribute by informing all your friends about this blog. As in the words of Suga Bear “Don’t be that”

Eve you’re doin it Subtle but Noticeable. I love this look.
