How can you control your life if you can’t control your hair?

CHEER WITH YOUR POM POM’S

I know I know, this isn’t my first post on the POM, but oh how I love it and this summers haircut (the crop) is not being left out of the do that just won’t go away. Whether long, or short, half up or down, straight down or ponytails, the pompadour is achievable on any head. You can dress it up with curls, sleek swept back updos, and large hooped earrings. My fave look is Janet Jackson’s new short cropped pompadour for Tyler Perry’s new film “For Colored Girls who have considered Suicide when the Rainbow is Enuff” based on the book, based on the play. She’s just stunningly beautiful. LOVE it!

Alicia lets the hair hang with creating the pop with a back combed base and dresses it up with the HOOPS!

CiCi sexifies the pom pony with curls

Mel Ford makes this rolled back Pom pom look real vintage. I’d wear RED lipstick with it!!!

TWILIGHT BY JOSHUA GOLDSWORTHY

Joshua gives Modern Salon a glimpse of his take on the book/movie series millions are addicted to-TWILIGHT. For those of you who know me, you probably know I’m obsessed with the vampire and wolverine love triangle that my little brother originally introduced me to. Very cool to see local superstar writer Stephanie Meyers characters not only on the big screen but through the eyes of England’s up and coming stylist.  Thanks MS.

5 EASY STYLES FOR ANY NIGHT OUT

Found this post by Glamour and couldn’t agree more. Today’s special occasion do’s don’t require to much fuss or perfection. Whether your hair is curly, wazy or straight here you’ll find easy hair to wear for everyone in a snap! Less is more girls. Those are words to live by.  Check them out

Sweeten up your look by parting it down the middle like Leighton and pulling the sides up. Curl just the ends and you’re red-carpet-ready in less than 10 minutes

An unfussy low-do can be just as pretty as something traditionally higher. For style like Zoe’s, make a deep side part, add a curl enhancing texturizer, gather all your hair to one side and create a loose chignon with an elastic. Pin any stray ends, but don’t stress about being too perfect—the best part about this look is the softer the sexier.

Look to this blue-eyed beauty for ponytail inspiration! Keep it neat and simple, but dress up your look with volume at the crown and a pretty pink gloss. Want full-looking lips like Amanda’s? “Use a gloss one shade lighter than your lipstick and dab it on the center of your lips with your ring finger,” says her makeup artist, Moninka Blunder.

Go ahead, let your hair down, add a severe side part, messy curly-meets-wavy locks and funky, smoky eye makeup for a look that’s more punk than Upper East Side princess.

Forget the middle ground! Wearing it all on one side ups the glam factor. Create big waves by wrapping hair around the barrel of your curling iron and finger-combing for a tousled look. Flip it over on one side and you’re good to go!

So there you have it girls. Basics to cover all basis. Don’t over think it, don’t over do it and remember less is best! Make up and accessories will do the trick. If you decide you want a more high glam look, then more on the hair and less on the make up and accessories.

THE CLARISONIC SYSTEM

One of my clients has been telling me about this product for a while now and I’m so excited to try! Peep the facts and stay tuned for feedback.

THE PRICE: $195 (includes waterproof, cordless brush handle; countertop charging cradle; two brush heads; 2-ounce daily cleanser). Available at Bliss Spa, 214-953-6200; Nordstrom; and www.clarisonic.com.

THE PROMISE: “The Clarisonic Skin Care Brush leaves skin feeling and looking smoother. Satisfaction guaranteed,” from www.clarisonic.com.

THE RESULT: The Clarisonic does remove dead, flaky skin. And it did leave my face feeling smooth. My favorite feature is that it’s waterproof. I have acne-prone skin, so I like that there are two brush heads – one for sensitive skin and one for normal skin. During testing, I was overzealous with a tea-tree oil treatment and ended up with some flaky patches. But the sensitive brush head smoothed them out without redness or irritation.

BOTTOM LINE: Clarisonic keeps its promise. The skin-care brush is probably worth the price if you don’t regularly get facials or use high-end skin-care product lines that cleanse, exfoliate and unclog pores.
